What: Typhoon Haiyan (known in the Philippines as Typhoon Yolanda) is unofficially the strongest recorded tropical cyclone to make landfall, with wind speeds up to 315 km/h (195 mph). 
Areas affected: Micronesia, Philippines, Southern China, Vietnam 
Occurred on: November 2, 2013.
